FAQs

What is the process for getting started?

To get started, you can reach out to our admin team at info@a2haven.com or fill out an inquiry here on our website. We do our best to respond to new inquiries 1-2 times per week, so you should hear back within a few days. Once you are connected with an intake specialist, they will ask some questions to get some basic information from you and also answer any questions you have about entering therapy or accessing other types of support.

How do I know if my therapy services are covered by insurance?

We are currently able to accept clients with Physicians Health Plan (PHP), which includes Michigan Care through the University of Michigan, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO plans. Please note that Blue Care Network (BCN) policies, including Premier Care, are separate from BCBS and we are currently unable to accept this kind of insurance. We always recommend calling your insurance before starting therapy to understand what your out-of-pocket costs, including your deductible and copay or coinsurance, may look like.

How long do therapy sessions last/how long are people usually in therapy?

Therapy sessions typically last about 50 to 60 minutes. Each course of therapy varies widely depending on presenting issue, treatment modality, and other factors.

Can I choose my therapist or doula?

Therapist matches are typically made depending on therapist availability, insurance credentialing, and areas of expertise. If you have received a referral to see a specific therapist, we are happy to try to accommodate the referral assuming that provider has availability. If they do not, another provider may be recommended to you.

What kind of experience or training do you have that makes you qualified to work with new parents?

All of our therapists have special interest and expertise in the perinatal period (preconception through postpartum). Some of our therapists have had specific training in modalities with an emphasis on perinatal work (i.e. Perinatal EMDR). We feel passionate about this work and the importance in ensuring that new parents and families have the opportunity to thrive.

Does Haven only serve perinatal clients?

No; Haven Wellness clinicians see clients from teenagers to older adults, with presenting problems such as anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment or early childhood concerns, and chronic illness. To gain a better understanding of our clinicians’ specific areas of expertise, please check out our Team page.

What if I need to cancel?

For therapy clients, we request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations in order to avoid being charged a late cancel fee of $100. The easiest way to cancel is to contact your specific therapist via e-mail or phone to inform them of your cancellation.
